Although BCUK offers several features to stop unwanted comments, such as moderation, and friends only posts. The problem with Moderating comments is that we can stop the comment from appearing on our blog, but it reaches us anyway, and can be annoying. The friends only posts, limits our audience to a select few.Can there be a way to take control of who comments on our blogs and who doesnt?
I searched the blogsphere, and no Blog website seems to offer such feature.Blogspot, wordpress, all seem to be helpless.
I read someone's discussion with BCUK staff about this issue, and the Blogger suggested giving the ability to users of being able to block other users from commenting on their Blog. The BCUK staff argued that such an approach will cause too many unwanted blogs on BCUK,as the trolls will come back with new user names and IDs,or leave comments as visitors.
BCUK has got a valid point.I stumbled upon an interesting website, and they claim to have a sevice for blogers, which can enable them to block IP addresses. They call it "Link Tracker".They give an HTML or java script code to be integrated into your blog, and thats where the problem begins. Can such a code be integrated into our blogs?
BCUK gives a free HTML design features,by which users with knowledge of HTML editing can design their blog. But does that function lets a user to replace the "Send comment" button with the tracker code?
The website itself is amazing.I changed 7 different IP sdresses, due to being on Dynamic IP,and everytime they Identified me as me.
For each IP adress which Visits my Blog, they give More detail than any other tracker i have seen to this date.Even the gender of the visitor is displayed. The exact link of the part of my blog which they visited is displayed in front of the Visitor's IP.For example if a visitor visited a certain post on my blog. The website's tracker will show me which blog post exactly they visited, and left a comment or not.
I was well impressed by their tracker, but since i know nothing about HTML editing,i dont know if their code can be embedded in out blogs or not.
Hopefully someone in here with good programming knowledge will read this post and try the tracker and let us know.
Ther website is www.trackmyip.org.
