Email limit?
@ 2009-11-19 – 16:01:34
Is there an add-on or a widget that allows someone to increase their email/PM allowance? BCUK only allows you to send 1000 (even if you answer someone's message that comes off your total) and I am perilously close to that

Ta ever so.

How to Block annoying comments
@ 2009-11-08 – 03:53:07
Although BCUK offers several features to stop unwanted comments, such as moderation, and friends only posts. The problem with Moderating comments is that we can stop the comment from appearing on our blog, but it reaches us anyway, and can be annoying. The friends only posts, limits our audience to a select few.Can there be a way to take control of who comments on our blogs and who doesnt?
I searched the blogsphere, and no Blog website seems to offer such feature.Blogspot, wordpress, all seem to be helpless.
I read someone's discussion with BCUK staff about this issue, and the Blogger suggested giving the ability to users of being able to block other users from commenting on their Blog. The BCUK staff argued that such an approach will cause too many unwanted blogs on BCUK,as the trolls will come back with new user names and IDs,or leave comments as visitors.
BCUK has got a valid point.I stumbled upon an interesting website, and they claim to have a sevice for blogers, which can enable them to block IP addresses. They call it "Link Tracker".They give an HTML or java script code to be integrated into your blog, and thats where the problem begins. Can such a code be integrated into our blogs?
BCUK gives a free HTML design features,by which users with knowledge of HTML editing can design their blog. But does that function lets a user to replace the "Send comment" button with the tracker code?
The website itself is amazing.I changed 7 different IP sdresses, due to being on Dynamic IP,and everytime they Identified me as me.
For each IP adress which Visits my Blog, they give More detail than any other tracker i have seen to this date.Even the gender of the visitor is displayed. The exact link of the part of my blog which they visited is displayed in front of the Visitor's IP.For example if a visitor visited a certain post on my blog. The website's tracker will show me which blog post exactly they visited, and left a comment or not.
I was well impressed by their tracker, but since i know nothing about HTML editing,i dont know if their code can be embedded in out blogs or not.
Hopefully someone in here with good programming knowledge will read this post and try the tracker and let us know.
Ther website is www.trackmyip.org. -
Live video chat on your blog
@ 2009-11-06 – 16:13:57
I have been searching for a way to show a live feed from my webcam, directly on my blog.Google, skype, yahoo all have video chat service, but a vide chat session cannot be embedded directly on blogs.
Paltalk has a tailor made widget, which lets you show yourself live on your blog. You can show anything on your blog vis your webcam, and at the same time, can chat with other members if they are registered on Paltalk.
I like the idea.May be we can have virtual blog meets,or show a party live on our blogs? I havent tried paltalk itself, and dont know how good is their chat service.
Here is a sample widget, but you can register on paltalk, and create your own video chat room and then post it on your blog. -
slide show,photo sharing widget
@ 2009-11-06 – 13:45:53
For the members who are into photography, and regularly post their photos on their blogs, this widget might come handy. It will show your photos uploaded on flickr, photobucket, weshots and many other photo sharing websites, directly on your blog without the need to upload them on BCUK.
You can choose different designs, different formats, and you have total control on which photos you want to show.
I found it better than Flickr's own widget, which more like a static poster.
I dont have any interesting photos of my own on any photo hosting websites,so i took the liberty of searching usksider's photos on flickr and slide show them here.

Loyal friends first
@ 2009-11-05 – 23:39:45
There is a very interesting and useful feature of BCUK friends list.May be some or most of the members know it already but i discovered it only today.
You can set your friends list to show the friends you interact more. The friends who visit or comment on your blog will be shown on the top,the more passive friends will be pushed down the list.By default, the list shows newest friends on the top.
1. Go to myblogs.co.uk
2. Click on the paint brush(design) icon in the right column.
3. Click on "Design wizard".
4. Click option 2 "Widgets".
5. Which ever column, right or left, your blog shows the friens list, there will be a tab named "Friends.
6. Hover the mouse on the "Friends" tab,and in the right bottom of the tab,you will see "Settings". Click there. It might take a few tries, and you may have to click repeatedly, and a new window will open.
7. On the new window "Widget settings" in the second row, there are 4 drop down menus, all are useful. But for this particular setting click on "Order of friends" and select "Number of comments".
8. Click on "Save widget".
9. Click on "Save & Quit"
10.You are done

PDF convertor
@ 2009-11-05 – 22:05:43
Works fine. You can upload a text or word document then wait, and push the convert button. It will then take you to an external website from where you can directly download or print your converted document.Since the document is converted and then saved on an external server,i dont know how safe it is,if the document you are converting contains private info.
